Escape the Conference Room

Many executive coaches book the corner office with the mahogany table and call it “professional.” I call it boring and uninspiring.

While they’re scheduling their third “breakthrough session” in the same sterile boardroom, I’m designing experiences that actually break through the corporate conditioning that’s keeping you stuck.

The Conference Room Lie Conference rooms are where you are comfortable. The same environment where you’ve had a thousand mediocre conversations. The same setting where you perform instead of think.

Siting in the exact space where your best ideas go to die, will the same banal talking points instead of the raw material that could transform your business.

I Do It Differently. On Purpose.

I’ve recorded breakthrough conversations three miles up mountain trails where an executive finally stopped performing and started thinking out loud.

I’ve taken a CEO to four different viewpoints around San Francisco, helping them see their city from four angles and their business from four perspectives they’d never considered.

A client discovered his $5 million pitch narrative while we were climbing through fog at 7 AM. Another unlocked her complete market strategy while sitting watching the waves at Breaker Beach.

Why Normal Methods Produce Normal Results

Conference rooms will give you the results you always get in a conference room. For new results, we must change the location and the experience.

The wilderness strips away pretense. Highway 1 creates a rhythm that unlocks thinking. Mountain trails force you to process while moving, exactly how great minds solve their biggest problems.

If we can’t get that far off the grid, we can still change the location and the experience. Take a ferry across the water, find a roof top high above the rest, walk without purpose in a neighborhood you aren’t used to. The unfamiliar, and a little bit of discomfort unlocks a new way of thinking.

These aren’t gimmicks. They’re strategic interventions designed to break the norm and get results.

The Uncomfortable Truth

If sitting in another conference room could fix your communication challenges, you’d have fixed them by now.

If a generic coaching process could unlock your breakthrough stories, you wouldn’t need me.

The executives and founders who get extraordinary results are willing to do extraordinary things to get them. Including lacing up hiking boots at 5 AM and trusting a process that looks nothing like anything they’ve done before.

The Question

Are you ready to stop doing the same thing and expecting different results?

Or are you still looking for someone who’ll make you comfortable while keeping you exactly where you are?

Because if you want comfortable, there are plenty of coaches with mahogany tables and motivational quotes.

I’m not one of them.
